A knack for exploring systems and connecting dots. Designing solutions that bridge gaps between people and the organizations that serve them.
An experienced design researcher with a practice grounded in human-centered design approaches, Emily has designed solutions for criminal justice reform, supported international open government initiatives through co-creation, and built new approaches to help young adults realte to local policy making. Her approach focuses on inclusive service design. Working in collaboration with organizations, she democratizes the tools and methods of the design process to empower stakeholders—from high-level decisionmakers to front-line service providers—in designing services that are responsive to the complex needs and contextual constraints of their users. She currently spends her week at Reboot—a social impact firm dedicated to accountable and inclusive governance. Every day, she gets to go to work and explore the intersection of communications design and service delivery—some days there’s even treats. A Midwestern transplant, she graduated from Illinois State University with dual BAs in Graphic Design and Arts Technology and a minor in Civic Engagement and Social Responsibility. She hold an MFA in Design for Social Innovation from the School of Visual Arts.
